SHILLONG, April 25: Former MLA Kyrmen Shylla on Friday inaugurated the Tuberkmaishnong Combined Water Supply Scheme in East Jaintia Hills, a project aimed at providing safe and reliable drinking water under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The scheme is designed to benefit the residents of Tuber Kmaishnong and Tuber Shohshrieh by providing functional household tap connections to improve public health and living standards.
Addressing the gathering, Shylla said the initiative is essential for the well-being of the community. “This project is about ensuring that every household has access to clean and dependable water, which is essential for better health and quality of life,” he remarked.
The programme was also attended by local MLA Santa Mary Shylla, East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar and senior Public Health Engineering (PHE) officials, including Chief Engineer Robert Singh Nongbri, Additional Chief Engineer BL Lawai and Superintending Engineer Paul Synnah.
Local leaders, including MDC Lasky Rymbai, were also present along with community representatives Jiedlang Sana and Lar Bang.
During the programme, officials noted that the project is part of the ongoing mission to ensure every rural home in the state is connected to a functional water supply system.
