The highest pass percentage of 89.79 was recorded in the Science stream, followed by Commerce at 81.13 per cent, Arts at 79.54 per cent, and Vocational stream at 74.20 per cent.

Out of a total of 2,41,124 candidates, 1,91,798 candidates cleared the exam in the Arts stream, of which 54,755 candidates were placed in the first division.

In the Science stream, 54,474 candidates out of 60,667 candidates cleared the exam with 34,079 of them placed in the first division.

In the Commerce stream, out of the 19,469 candidates that appeared in the exam, 15,796 cleared the exam with 7,787 of them placed in the first division.

In the Vocational stream, out of 1,465 candidates that appeared, 1,087 cleared the exam with 92 of them placed in the first division.

ASSEB authorities informed that 190 candidates were expelled, while 8,075 candidates remained absent during the examination process.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to congratulate the candidates who cleared the exam.

“Congratulations to all my young friends who have cleared the HS exam this year with flying colours. It is the blessings of your parents and teachers, coupled with your hard work and sincerity, which have led to your success in this exam,” Sarma stated on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

“But remember, this is just a stepping stone to a very bright and dynamic future for you all, as India and Assam offer excellent opportunities across every field for you to chase your dreams today. To all my friends who could not achieve the desired results, do not lose heart. Reflect on the results, prepare well and ace it the next time. My blessings and best wishes to everyone!” Sarma stated.

Policy tweak

In a significant policy shift to be effective from next year, ASSEB officials informed that students failing in more than two subjects would no longer be eligible for compartmental examinations and must seek fresh admissions.

On the other hand, students who pass individual subjects will be given skill certificates in a broader push to integrate vocational competencies into the curriculum.

Moreover, the board has made it mandatory for students to secure a minimum of 33 percent marks in each subject to clear the exam from 2027 onwards.
