SHILLONG, May 1: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) on Friday criticised the KHADC CEM Winston Tony Lyngdoh for allegedly misleading the public over claims that North East Security Services (NESS) had been blacklisted.
KHNAM working president Thomas Passah said statements made by the Managing Director of NESS contradict the CEM’s earlier claims, and termed the issue a matter of serious concern.
“If we go by the statement made by the Managing Director of NESS, it reflects that the statement made by the KHADC CEM on the floor of the House needs to be condemned.
The KHADC should act decisively and refrain from mere lip service, which is also seen as misinformation to the general public,” Passah said.
He was reacting to a clarification issued by the NESS Managing Director, which appeared in The Shillong Times.
According to Passah, the CEM had earlier informed the council that NESS was charged with fraud in securing a tender at NIT Sohra, and that its trade licence for operations at KV Laitkor had been cancelled, along with the firm being blacklisted.
However, the managing director of NESS has denied these claims, stating that the firm has not received any official communication regarding blacklisting by the KHADC.
Passah further recalled that the CEM had reiterated the same claim during a council session while replying to a query raised by Leader of Opposition Titosstarwell Chyne. Citing the clarification of NESS MD, Passah said the NESS Managing Director had also stated that the firm’s trade licence for operations at KV Laitkor was not terminated by the council but had concluded upon completion of the contract period. “The earlier statement appears to be mere lip service,” Passah alleged, urging the KHADC to clarify its position and take appropriate action based on facts.
