TURA, May 2: Prosecutors in West Garo Hills have decided to stage a symbolic protest over the non-release of professional bills for 2024 and irregular payment of retaining fees.
The move involves Special POCSO Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors (Addl. PP), and Assistant Public Prosecutors (APP) serving in Tura. Following a meeting on April 30, the group resolved to wear white bands while performing court duties to highlight their grievances.
The prosecutors clarified that court proceedings and casework will not be disrupted. They noted that the protest aims to draw attention to financial hardships caused by prolonged delays and the lack of response from authorities despite repeated enquiries.
The group urged the government to acknowledge their concerns and ensure the timely release of pending bills and regular payment of fees.
