The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! each get 12 Tony nominations

The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! led the 2026 Tony Awards nominations with 12 each, followed by Ragtime with 11 and Death of a Salesman with nine.
Twenty-four productions were nominated across 26 categories in a strong Broadway season.
The nominations also set records. Actress June Squibb became the oldest Tony nominee in history at 96, while actor Danny Burstein became the most-nominated male performer in Tony history with nine nods.
Other notable productions included Chess, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and Pulitzer-winning play Liberation.
The best new musical race features The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titanique, and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York).
The season highlights a wide range of themes, from reimagined classics and satirical musicals to socially conscious dramas and explorations of artificial intelligence.
Performances and nominations reflect Broadway’s blend of innovation and tradition, with both new works and revivals competing strongly.
