King reacts to criticism of Punjabi rap songs

Singer-rapper King has addressed criticism of Punjabi rap music being accused of objectifying women, urging audiences to view music as a subjective art form rather than stereotyping an entire genre. In an interview, he responded to the debate by comparing it with Bhojpuri and Bollywood songs, asking how much music people have actually listened to while growing up. He said artists reflect their personal experiences, environments, and life phases, and in hip-hop these expressions can be raw, exaggerated, or poetic. King also stressed that both artists and listeners evolve over time and should avoid generalising an entire music community based on select songs. He added that music is often enjoyed for its vibe rather than lyrics alone, and people should relax and appreciate songs without overanalysing them. King has popular tracks like Tu Aake Dekhle and Maan Meri Jaan, and recently debuted as an actor in the OTT series Lukkhe. (IANS)

Ayushmann: Social media criticised Dhurandhar too

Ayushmann Khurrana has spoken about the growing influence of social media on films, saying that early reactions to trailers and teasers are often critical and can shape public perception. He noted that even films like Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar initially faced significant online negativity after its first glimpse but later went on to win audience appreciation. He said every actor experiences a “honeymoon period” early in their career, receiving widespread love, but criticism increases as they become more established. According to him, audiences have always been critical, but social media has made those opinions more visible and immediate. Ayushmann added that strong storytelling eventually prevails, citing films like 12th Fail and Dhurandhar as examples of good cinema overcoming initial backlash. (IANS)
