Meghalaya Sports Minister Shylla inaugurates Zenith & Pickleball Court at RGU

GUWAHATI, May 14: Shri Wailadmiki Shylla, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs,
Government of Meghalaya, visited The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today and
took part in a series of programmes aimed at promoting student engagement, sports culture,
and environmental awareness on the university campus.

The Minister officially inaugurated The Zenith, the newly-established food court facility of
the university, along with the Pickleball Court. As part of the programme, a plantation drive
was also organised to encourage environmental consciousness and sustainability initiatives
within the campus.

Inaugurating the sports facility, the Minister also spent a few moments playing pickleball
with students and faculty members, appreciating the university’s efforts in promoting
emerging sports and encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth.

Addressing the media, the Meghalaya Sports Minister said, “I am happy to be here today to
open a vibrant new recreational and community space for students and faculty members.
Sports plays a vital role in shaping the youth by instilling discipline, teamwork, leadership,
and confidence. Universities must continue to create such opportunities that help students
grow not only academically but also physically and socially.”

Shri Wailadmiki Shylla also attended an interactive session with students from Meghalaya.
During the interaction, the Minister encouraged students to actively participate in sports,
leadership activities, and youth development initiatives while pursuing academic excellence.
He also appreciated the university for providing quality educational opportunities and modern
infrastructure to students from the Northeast region.

The programme witnessed the presence of university dignitaries, faculty members, students,
and officials, making the occasion a memorable and inspiring event for the university
community.
