ICC Test Rankings: Bumrah maintains top spot
DUBAI, May 13: India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah maintained his pole position among Test bowlers in the latest ICC rankings published on Wednesday.Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were placed 8th and 9th among the batters respectively with former England Test skipper Joe Root leading the charts with 880 points.Jaiswal has 750 points and Gill, who has climbed a spot, has accumulated 730 points. Harry Brook is second in the list followed by Travis Head and Steve Smith respectively.It must be noted that India is yet to play any of their WTC matches in 2026 having last played against South Africa at home in the month of November.In the bowlers’ list, Bumrah is still leading the charts with 879 points while the next best Indian is Mohammed Siraj placed 12th. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are currently placed 14th and 15th respectively.Australia’s Mitchell Starc and Test captain Pat Cummins have gained to spot to second and fourth place respectively, while New Zealand’s Matt Henry also leapfrogged to third spot. Gyaneshwari bags two medals at Asian Weightlifting C’ship
GANDHINAGAR, May 13: India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav bagged a double by winning silver and bronze medals in the 53kg category at the 2026 Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships here on Wednesday.Gyaneshwari won a silver in the snatch section and then an overall bronze medal in the event with a combined lift of 194kg.The gold medal in the category was claimed by Jinlan Zhao of China with a total lift of 216kg, while the silver went to Vietnam’s Hoai Huong Nguyen with a total of 195kg.Komal Kohar had opened India’s medal count, winning a bronze in the women’s 48kg on Monday.The championships, which started on Monday at the Mahatma Mandir & Exhibition Centre here features 178 lifters from 28 Asian nations and two Commonwealth countries and serves as a qualifying event for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Limaye grabs qualification spots for World Games
NEW DELHI, May 13: Indian equestrian rider Ashish Limaye achieved a remarkable milestone for the country at the prestigious equestrian event held in Sopot, Poland, delivering an outstanding performance across both the Concours Complet International (CCI) 3S and CCI 4L categories for eventing competitions. Competing against some of the finest international riders, Limaye secured an impressive 4th position in the CCI 4L category aboard D’Avril du Pinier among 11 participants, earning qualification for the World Games. Additionally, riding Willy Be Dun in the CCI 3S category featuring 44 participants, he once again finished 4th, successfully qualifying for the Asian Games.With this achievement, Limaye became the first Indian rider to qualify for the Asian Games in this category, marking a proud and historic moment for Indian equestrian sports, a release said on Tuesday.
