The Delhi High Court has allowed the OTT release of Dhurandhar 2 featuring the remix Rang De Lal (Oye Oye), rejecting a plea by Trimurti Films to block its streaming over alleged copyright violation of the song Tirchi Topiwale from Tridev (1989).
Justice Tushar Rao Gedela ruled that since the film had already been released in theatres with the song, stopping its OTT release would be “incongruous” and unfair. The court said any copyright issue could be addressed later through damages if the plaintiff succeeds.
The court also directed Super Cassettes/T-Series to deposit Rs 50 lakh within four weeks. It noted the significant investment made in the film and said producers should not suffer losses at this stage.
Trimurti Films claimed ownership of the song, while T-Series argued it holds rights and cited prior remixed uses without objection. (PTI)
