3-day closure of Shillong-Dawki road stretch announced

SHILLONG, May 16: A temporary closure of the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem stretch along the Shillong-Dawki road has been announced for a period of three days beginning from 7 am on May 17 till 7 am on May 20.
According to a public notice issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, Gautam Warjri, the closure has been imposed in the interest of public safety and to facilitate ongoing construction works in the area.
The notice stated that the temporary restriction on vehicular movement is necessary for carrying out construction activities, movement of heavy machinery, excavation works and other related operations along the affected stretch.
During the closure period, all vehicular traffic will remain prohibited on the route. Commuters travelling towards Dawki and adjoining areas have been advised to use alternative routes via Pynursla-Dawki-Amlarem and Pynursla-Nongjri-Sohra road.
Warjri urged the public to cooperate with the temporary arrangements and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
