Shillong, May 17: Meghalaya won their fourth match in a row in the Swami Vivekananda U-20 Men’s National Football Championship 2026 on Sunday, this time taking down Rajasthan 3-0.
Victory means that Meghalaya topped Group A with a full 12 points and qualified for the quarterfinals in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
The match started bright and early at 7:30am and Meghalaya earned a quick lead after Mebanlamlynti Masharing (3’) scored from an Imeral Jana corner kick.
The lead was doubled through Ryan Gibbs Kharnaior (17’).
A long ball sent three Meghalaya players forward with five from Rajasthan for company.
After luring three defenders away with a feint, Ryan quickly turned and took a shot with his left foot that beat the goalkeeper.
Even before the half time whistle, Phermanbha Lyngdoh (38’) bagged the third goal for Meghalaya and this sealed the contest with more than most of the match still to go.
Meghalaya had previously beaten Bihar 3-1 on 9 May, Jharkhand 5-0 on 11 May and Andhra Pradesh 8-1 on 13 May.
They will face the winners of Group C in the quarterfinal round.
