GUWAHATI, May 19: The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today inaugurated
its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Entrepreneurship Cell in a significant step
towards promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration among
students and young innovators. The programme was organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell
of RGU.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Loken Das, Chief General Manager,
NABARD, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Bajrang Lohia, President of FINER, as the Guest of
Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sriparna Bhuyan Baruah, Director of Entrepreneurship Cell,
RGU, stated, “The inauguration of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell marks a
transformative chapter for our institution. By integrating academic rigor with an active
network of ecosystem stakeholders, we are not merely teaching business; we are actively
cultivating the next generation of visionary leaders, problem solvers, and job creators who
will drive the economic landscape of Northeast India.”
The programme began with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Special
Guests, followed by the declaration of results and prize distribution ceremony of the Business
Pitch Competition organised for students. Participants also shared their entrepreneurial
experiences and innovative business ideas during the event.
A panel discussion was also held as part of the programme, where industry experts and
academicians deliberated on the evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem, start-up opportunities in
Northeast India, and the significance of innovation-driven enterprises. The panellists included
Shri Anupam Deka, Shri Tridip Sharma, and Shri Aabhishek Bedi Varma.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Bajrang Lohia highlighted the growing entrepreneurial
potential of the region and encouraged students to embrace innovation and enterprise creation
as viable career paths.
In his address, Shri Loken Das appreciated the initiative taken by RGU and stressed the
importance of entrepreneurship in generating employment and strengthening the regional
economy. He also emphasized the need for institutions to nurture innovative thinking and
provide platforms for young entrepreneurs to flourish.
The inauguration of the IIC and Entrepreneurship Cell marks another milestone in RGU’s
continuous efforts to build a vibrant ecosystem of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship,
aligned with the vision of empowering youth and contributing to the socio-economic
development of the Northeast region.
