Netflix’s upcoming three-part docuseries Michael Jackson: The Verdict will premiere on June 3, revisiting the 2005 trial of pop star Michael Jackson. The trailer has already been released, offering a glimpse into the series’ detailed examination of the case.
The series focuses on the 2003 child molestation charges against Jackson and the high-profile trial that followed, which became a global media spectacle. Although Jackson was acquitted on all counts, the case remains widely discussed and controversial, especially following his death in 2009.
The documentary will present perspectives from both the prosecution and defence, featuring interviews with jurors, witnesses, accusers, defenders, and media personnel who covered the trial.
According to the filmmakers, the aim is to reconstruct the courtroom proceedings in a factual and balanced manner, as no cameras were allowed during the trial, leaving much of the public narrative shaped by media commentary.
Directed by Nick Green and executive produced by Fiona Stourton, the series is designed as a historical retelling that revisits evidence and testimony in detail. The creators said they felt it was the right time to re-examine the case and its lasting questions, aiming to present a “forensic” view of the trial.
The show is created by David Herman and produced by Candle True Stories, with executive production from Stourton and James Goldston.
It also includes commentary from journalists who reported on the proceedings, aiming to give viewers a comprehensive look inside one of the most controversial celebrity trials in modern history. (ANI)
