SHILLONG, May 23: The Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) has invited tenders for the construction of the Riangdo Small Hydro Project, estimated to cost Rs 13.84 crore.
The proposed 6 MW project will consist of two units of 3 MW each.
While the initiative was originally conceived as a 3 MW project, the state government decided to upgrade its capacity after identifying the site’s higher potential.
The expansion follows a technical validation by IIT Roorkee, which submitted an evaluation report last year supporting the feasibility of increasing the project’s output from 3 MW to 6 MW.
