Ukrainian drone attack triggers fire at Russian oil terminal

Moscow, May 23: A Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire at another Russian oil terminal overnight, local officials in Russia’s Krasnodar region said Saturday, in what appeared to be the latest attack on Moscow’s vital oil industry. Authorities in the city of Novorossiysk said falling drone debris sparked a fire at an oil terminal, injuring two people. Russia’s Astra news outlet said Ukrainian drones struck the Sheskharis oil terminal and depot, the terminus for Russian state-controlled pipeline company Transneft’s main oil pipelines in the region. Images posted by Astra appeared to show smoke rising above the oil terminal, but they could not be verified. (PTI)

Top terrorists attend funeral of Pulwama attack mastermind

Islamabad, May 23: Several Pakistan-based wanted terrorists, including Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and Al-Badr supremo Bakht Zameen Khan, attended the funeral of Pulwama attack mastermind terrorist Hamza Burhan in Islamabad, according to visuals circulating on social media and local reports. Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar and codenamed “Doctor,” was buried in Islamabad a day after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. (IANS)

Singapore recommends adults to test for HIV

Singapore, May 23: Singapore on Saturday recommended that every adult aged 21 and older be tested for HIV at least once in their lifetime as there has been a spike in infections last year. In 2025, there were 166 new cases of HIV reported among Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, with an incidence of 3.9 infections per 1,00,000 resident population. This brings the total number of Singapore residents known to be living with HIV to 7,248 as of end 2025, with a prevalence of 172 infections per 1,00,000 resident population, according to a release from the Communicable Diseases Agency. Heat wave conditions in Nepal districts

Kathmandu, May 23: Several districts in south-west Nepal may face extremely high temperatures apart from a heat wave in western Terai areas starting from Saturday till Monday, disaster management officials said. Some areas in southern districts of Lumbini and Sudur Paschim Provinces may witness extremely high temperatures crossing 40 degree Celsius, warned a National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority (NDRRMA) notice. 40,000 people ordered to evacuate after chemical leak

Garden Grove (California), May 23: About 40,000 people were under evacuation orders and schools shut down Friday in Southern California after a storage tank continued to leak a hazardous chemical used to make plastic parts that officials said could rupture or explode. (PTI)
