SHILLONG, June 2: Four minors reported missing from Jorhat, Assam, were traced and recovered by Shillong Police from a hotel in Police Bazar following a search operation conducted by personnel from Sadar Police Station and the Women Police Station.
Police said information was received that four children — two males and two females — had gone missing from Jorhat. Acting on the information, a search was launched and the children were located at J.K. International Hotel in Police Bazar.
Police said the minors, aged between 16 and 17 years, were found in the company of a 26-year-old male at the time of recovery.
During inquiry, the missing girls informed police that they were friends, while the two boys are cousins. The children stated that they had travelled to Shillong on May 31 for sightseeing without informing their parents.
Police further stated that a team from Jorhat, accompanied by family members of the children, arrived at Sadar Police Station on Monday. Following necessary procedures, the children were handed over to their families on Tuesday.
