SHILLONG, June 5: The second phase of the Shillong IT Park being constructed in New Shillong Township is nearing completion with government sources stating said that the contractor, Badri Rai and Company, is likely to hand over the project to the government by July-end.
Right now, final touches are being given to the facility, sources informed.
According to the sources, the new building has four floors out of which two floors have been already occupied by some private companies.
The total built-up area is 1.80 lakh sq. ft. and the project cost is Rs 121 crore.
The facility functions on a high-utility “plug-and-play” model, enabling both IT/ITeS companies to lease spaces for short-term projects or permanent operations.
The state government expects these infrastructure projects to generate approximately 22,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the three tech parks in Meghalaya (two in Shillong and one in Tura).
Phase I of the Shillong Tech Park is already operational, accounting for 1,500 direct and 4,500 indirect jobs. Phase II is projected to create 3,000 direct and 9,000 indirect positions. The Tura Tech Park is expected to provide 1,000 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs.
