Justice Thangkhiew to head selection panel for consumer commissions

SHILLONG, June 6: The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department has constituted a selection committee for the Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, and has appointed Justice HS Thangkhiew of the High Court of Meghalaya as its Chairman.
The committee is tasked with selecting members for both the State Commission and the various District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions across Meghalaya.
According to an official notification, the appointment was made in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Qualification for Appointment, and Members of the State Commission and District Commission) Rules, 2020, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
The new notification, issued with the approval of the Governor, supersedes a previous order dated February 5, 2021.
