Probe on after video shows foreign woman being harassed

MANALI (HP), June 6: A video showing a foreign woman tourist being harassed by a young man on a Manali street in Himachal’s Kullu district has gone viral on social media, prompting police action.According to reports, the incident was captured on CCTV, where a man made inappropriate advances toward a woman walking alone on June 3. The exact location of the video has not been confirmed yet.No formal complaint has been filed in this regard so far. However, the Subdivisional Magistrate ordered an inquiry after the video surfaced. He maintained that people damaging Himachal’s image must face strict action.Police has been instructed to identify the accused seen in the footage.The incident has alarmed locals and tourism stakeholders. Punjab: 9 killed after pick-up vehicle collides with truck

FEROZEPUR, June 6: Nine people were killed, and several others were injured when a pick-up vehicle, in which they were travelling, collided with a truck near Janga Wala Mour on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road on Saturday.As many as 32 persons, including women and children, were going from Jalalabad to Beas in Amritsar to immerse the ashes of a relative in the Beas river, when their vehicle met with an accident.Many of them died on the spot, and the severely injured were brought to the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur. The SSP said the police were investigating to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The deceased were identified as Karnail Singh, Lakshmi Rani, Sukhwinder Kaur, Bhago Rani, Maya Bai, Surinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Darshan Singh and Vidya Rani. Anshpreet Singh (12), who survived the accident with minor injuries, said that he was going with his family members to immerse the remains of his grandmother, Pooro Bai (62).“We started our journey early at 3.30 am. Everything was normal, and we even stopped for fuel. As soon as we reached near Janga Wala Mour, the accident happened”, Anshpreet said. (PTI)
