Kolkata Police Armed Police Joint CP Subhankar Bhattacharya has been given the charge as DIG of Traffic.

The transfer of so many IPS officers comes at a time when the police administration is cracking down on illegal activities and is also acting in cases involving Trinamool Congress leaders against whom there are various charges of corruption and extortion. Already several Trinamool Congress MLAs, including a couple of former ministers and councillors, have been arrested by the police on such charges.
