PARIS, June 7: Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup may not qualify as a traditional “group of death”, but it promises one of the tournament’s most anticipated contests as France’s Kylian Mbappe and Norway’s Erling Haaland prepare to face each other on football’s biggest stage.
France
Among the favourites to lift the trophy, France enter the tournament looking to add to their 2018 World Cup triumph after finishing runners-up in 2022. However, concerns remain over the balance of the squad, particularly in midfield, where coach Didier Deschamps has recalled veteran N’Golo Kante.

Iraq
