Yash Raj Films on Wednesday unveiled the first teaser of its much-awaited spy thriller Alpha, offering audiences their first glimpse of actor Alia Bhatt as a deadly assassin in the YRF Spy Universe. The nearly two-minute teaser of the film, touted as the first female-led spy thriller in the franchise, was released on the official social media handles of the studio. It opens with Bhatt’s character celebrating her 18th birthday with her father, played by Bobby Deol. However, things take a turn when she is presented with a gift box containing details of her first mission. She goes on to ask if the arrangement was for the mission and not to celebrate her birthday.
“You are going on your first mission on your 18th birthday. What could be more special than this,” Deol is heard saying as Bhatt gets upset. The teaser then introduces Bhatt’s character with glimpses from her childhood, where she is trained by Deol to turn into a skilled assassin codenamed “Sita” for a top-secret programme — the first origin story within the YRF Spy Universe where the protagonist is an assassin.
It then follows the 33-year-old actor doing extensive action in a series of high-octane fight scenes and stunts. The film is directed by Shiv Rawail, with screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan and dialogues by Ishita Moitra, and is produced by Aditya Chopra through the Yash Raj Films banner. The film is set to release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil across theatres on July 3. (PTI)
