CJP to launch nationwide protest today
New Delhi, June 10 : Asserting that India’s youngsters are not scared of questioning the government, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which led a protest here last week demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, said on Wednesday that it would launch an “indefinite sit-in” at Jantar Mantar from June 20 if the minister does not step down. In a statement here, the CJP, which started as a satirical social-media account and has transformed into a movement following last week’s agitation at Jantar Mantar, also announced that it would hold protests in different cities, starting with Pune on June 11, followed by Lucknow, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Hyderabad. The CJP said the protests will continue until Pradhan resigns. (PTI)
Cong calls crucial meet of general secretaries and state unit chiefs
New Delhi, June 10: The Congress has called a meeting of its general secretaries, in-charges and state unit chiefs on Thursday during which the current political situation and the party’s plans will be deliberated upon. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will preside over this crucial meeting, Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal said. “An urgent meeting of AICC General Secretaries, In-charges and PCC Presidents will be held tomorrow, 11 June, 2026 at Indira Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss current political developments,” he said. The meeting comes amid a row over the issue of rejection of Congress’ Madhya Pradesh candidate Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha polls. It also comes in the wake of the TMC political crisis with many of its MPs and MLAs staging a revolt. (PTI)
