Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha passes away at 47

BANGKOK, June 12: Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has died at the age of 47, the royal palace announced on Friday.
She had been hospitalised since December 2022 after suffering a sudden illness and later developed complications from an abdominal infection.
According to the Bureau of the Royal Household, her condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment, and she passed away peacefully on Thursday evening.
Known as “Princess Bha,” she was a trained prosecutor, diplomat and advocate for women’s rights.
Educated in Thailand, Britain and the United States, she also served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria. Her funeral will be held with the highest royal honours. (Agencies)
