Actor Peter Serafinowicz has joined the cast of HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, taking on the role of Peeves the Poltergeist, a mischievous Hogwarts character who was notably absent from the original film franchise.
Serafinowicz is known for his work in The Tick and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
The highly anticipated series features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The ensemble cast also includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, and Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil.
Other notable cast members include Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The role of the central villain, Lord Voldemort, has not yet been announced. Written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, the series aims to faithfully adapt all seven of Harry Potter novels, with each season dedicated to one book. Produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television, the series is expected to run through 2036. (PTI)
