Guwahati, June 17: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday chaired a meeting with key stakeholders on the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled on June 21, 2026.

The re-examination will be conducted across 88 examination centres in 17 examination districts, covering over 43,000 candidates across Assam.

“Assam has always taken strict measures to ensure that there are no loopholes in the entire process. I have instructed officials to continue with our monitoring and ensure exams are held in a free and fair manner,” the chief minister said after the meeting.

“There will be no compromise with the future of our students,” he said.

Disclosing details of the review meeting, Sarma said several measures have been taken to uphold the integrity of the NEET re-examination.

Emphasising on the state government’s zero tolerance approach, the chief minister said all candidates with valid admit cards would be facilitated with free travel to the exam centres where they would have to undergo dual-layer frisking.

“Section 144 would be enforced across a 100-metre radius of all exam centres which will be under 24-hour police protection,” Sarma informed.

“Question papers will be transported to the exam centres by military officials. All exam centres would be under CCTV surveillance,” he said.

It may be recalled that Assam chief secretary Ravi Kota had on May 30 reviewed the preparedness for the NEET re-exam, to be held in accordance with the guidelines of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Reviewing the district-wise preparedness, Kota directed the DCs and SSPs to personally oversee all arrangements.
