Four injured in Ri-Bhoi road mishap

NONGPOH, June 19: A Hyundai Grand i10, bearing a ‘PRESS’ sticker, reportedly caused a head-on collision with a Tata Nexon on Friday evening at Jyntru, Ri-Bhoi, after allegedly veering into the wrong lane due to overspeeding.
The mishap occurred between 4:30 pm and 5 pm. The Hyundai (ML05L8767), which was heading toward Shillong, reportedly lost control and crossed into the opposite lane, crashing into the Guwahati-bound Nexon (TG07E5517). Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene immediately after the impact. A passenger in the same vehicle sustained minor injuries, while three occupants of the Tata Nexon were also slightly hurt.
The passenger in the Hyundai informed reporters that the car belongs to his father and he was asleep when the crash happened.
