Kharshiing secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 2626 and stood at ST Rank 15 in one of the country’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations. His achievement has drawn praise from across the state, with many hailing it as a testament to the growing academic potential of Meghalaya’s youths.
Congratulating the young achiever, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma described the accomplishment as a matter of pride for the state.
In a social media post, the chief minister noted that gaining admission to the Computer Science and Engineering programme at IIT Bombay is a significant milestone, given that it remains one of the most sought-after courses among engineering aspirants across the country.

The achievement is expected to inspire students across Meghalaya, particularly those aspiring to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering.
Admission to IIT Bombay’s CSE programme is widely regarded as one of the toughest academic feats in the country due to intense competition and the limited number of seats available.
