New Delhi, June 20: Spain will look to secure their first win of the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they take on Saudi Arabia in a crucial Group H clash on Sunday. Both sides opened their campaigns with draws, leaving the group finely balanced heading into the second round of fixtures.
La Roja were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Cape Verde in their opening match, struggling to create clear-cut chances despite entering the tournament as one of the favourites. Coach Luis de la Fuente will be hoping for a sharper display, particularly from teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, whose introduction added much-needed spark against Cape Verde.A victory would put Spain in a strong position to reach the Round of 32, while anything less could increase the pressure on a side seeking its first World Cup triumph since 2010. Spain have endured a difficult run in recent World Cups, failing to progress beyond the last 16 in the previous two editions. (Agencies)
