San Francisco, June 21: Algeria and World Cup debutants Jordan will be desperate to get their campaigns back on track when they meet in a key Group J encounter on Monday.
Both sides suffered defeats in their opening matches and enter the contest searching for their first points of the tournament. Algeria were comfortably beaten 3-0 by defending champions Argentina, while Jordan went down 3-1 to Austria despite a spirited display.Jordan remained competitive for much of their World Cup debut and were level deep into the second half before conceding twice late on. However, coach Jamal Sellami will be concerned by his side’s defensive struggles, with Jordan now winless in six matches and having conceded at least two goals in each of those games.The West Asian nation is still chasing its first-ever World Cup victory and will hope to keep its qualification hopes alive.
