SHILLONG, June 22: Students of PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Mukhla, were sensitised on the importance of drug-free living and environmental conservation during an awareness campaign organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong.
The programme, held under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), focused on rejecting substance abuse and fostering nationwide hygiene. Attendees included JNV Mukhla Principal Neeraj Kumar, Thadlaskein Block Programme Assistant (SBM-G) Hun-i-ka Tang, and CBC officials.During the sessions, students were introduced to the “Four Rs”—Reduce, Refuse, Reuse, and Recycle—as essential measures for waste reduction. Practical methods such as composting, kitchen gardening, and the productive use of biodegradable waste were also highlighted to promote healthier surroundings.
To mark the occasion, a cleanliness drive was conducted within the school premises. The interactive programme also featured a drawing contest and a quiz based on the themes of NMBA and SBM. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, encouraging students to lead the way in creating a drug-free and pollution-free India.
