RANCHI, June 22: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday said that the fallout of the recently concluded Rajya Sabha polls will be reviewed among the ruling alliance partners, and further course of action will be decided.
JMM general secretary and central spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said the MLAs involved in the cross-voting, which led to the BJP-backed Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani’s win, are being identified.
Amid cross-voting, NDA-supported Independent candidate Parimal Nathwani won one of the two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand on June 18, defeating the Congress’s Pranav Jha. JMM candidate Baidyanath Ram was elected to the other seat.The BJP-led NDA has 24 MLAs, four short of the minimum of 28 first-preference votes required in the 81-member assembly to secure a berth in the RS. The INDIA bloc, including the JMM and the Congress, has 56 members in the House.“A review meeting will take place soon for the Rajya Sabha fallout,” he said. (PTI)
