SHILLONG, June 25: The investigation into the suspected poisoning of stray and community animals in Laban made little headway on Thursday as authorities and animal welfare volunteers awaited vital CCTV footage and forensic reports. No arrests have been made so far.
A follow-up visit to the Circuit House area yielded limited results, with local CCTV cameras poorly positioned to capture relevant activity. Volunteers reported that the lone surviving dog is showing slow but steady signs of recovery after another veterinary visit, though it remains weak and needs ongoing treatment.
Another stray was found stuck in bushes near the Circuit House, prompting further searches for evidence.
Progress into the probe is likely to be hampered due to a public holiday on Friday, with key forensic results on poisoned food samples and a recovered bird carcass still pending.
