World Cup Fan Park opens in Shillong

Shillong, June 26: The Meghalaya government has launched the Chief Minister’s Football Fan Park in Shillong on Friday, offering football enthusiasts a free venue to watch selected FIFA World Cup 2026 matches on giant LED screens.
Set up at the S.R.G.T. Parking Lot in Polo, the fan park aims to bring together football lovers from across the state and visiting tourists during the month-long tournament, turning match screenings into a community celebration.
The venue will screen selected World Cup fixtures scheduled at convenient timings for Indian audiences, including kick-offs at 9.30 pm, 10.30 pm and 12.30 am. Entry to the fan park will remain free for both residents and visitors throughout the tournament.
In addition to live football action, the venue will feature performances by artistes associated with the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme, combining the state’s passion for football with its rich cultural heritage. Officials said the initiative is designed to create an immersive World Cup experience while promoting community engagement through sports and cultural activities.
