TURA, June 29: The ASPF has written to Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui seeking his immediate intervention towards appointing an already selected candidate to the post of a menial/chowkidar at Rajabala Higher Seondary School in West Garo Hills.

The request by the ASPF comes in the wake of delay by school authorities to appoint the already selected candidate, as per an appointment order given earlier by the department.

‎‎”It has come to our attention that Sahil S. Sangma, a resident of Rajabala, was selected for this position in accordance with all established procedures and has received an appointment order (Reference No. RHSS/SIMC/Apptt/IV-Grade/2026/2312) dated June 12, 2026. This order supersedes the previous temporary appointment of Mr. Sujan Ali, son of Mr. Amjad Ali, r/o Kalogaon, Rajabala, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya,” its Genral Secretary Bernita Marak said, in her letter to the minister.

However, according to Marak, the Vice Principal of the school declined to permit the selected candidate- Sohil S. Sangma to assume his designated role.

“This situation raises significant questions regarding the rejection of a candidate who was officially appointed by the Special Interim Managing Committee, following due process. It is important to note that this committee was duly constituted by the relevant authority after the dissolution of the School Managing Committee, as documented in order notice Reference No. DSEL/SEC-NG/MC/2/2024/603,” Marak asserted.

‎‎Marak, in her letter urge the minister to intervene in the matter pointing out that the rightful candidate must be permitted to commence his duties at the earliest possible convenience to ensure the smooth functioning of the school and uphold the integrity of the recruitment process.
