James Sangma to take oath on Day-1 of Parl session

SHILLONG, June 28: Rajya Sabha member-elect James Sangma will take his oath on the first day of the upcoming Parliament session. While his tenure officially began on June 22, the swearing-in remains the final step before he assumes his parliamentary duties.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma noted that his term commenced following the retirement of former Rajya Sabha member Dr WR Kharlukhi on June 21.
At a gathering with Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA-II) members, Sangma expressed gratitude to the legislators who unanimously endorsed his candidature.He assured Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and the state government that he would work with sincerity while seeking their guidance on matters concerning Meghalaya.
Sangma also pledged to assist the state government in improving coordination with the Centre, particularly regarding pending schemes and proposals. He stated that he would facilitate communication between the state and New Delhi to advance Meghalaya’s interests in Parliament.
The informal event was attended by coalition partners, including the UDP, BJP, HSPDP, and Independent MLAs, who felicitated the member-elect. Sangma thanked the Chief Minister and alliance leaders for their continued support.
