Ireland change coach a day after sealing T20 series win

Belfast, June 29: Ireland hired a new coach for its men’s cricket team on Monday, a day after sealing a historic T20 series win over India.
Gary Wilson was appointed as the team’s first Irish-born head coach in more than 30 years and will replace South African Heinrich Malan.Ireland beat India 2-0 in their T20 series in Belfast, winning matches on Friday and Sunday, and will now attempt to qualify for next year’s 50-over World Cup under Wilson.Wilson played 292 games for Ireland in a 15-year international career before retiring in 2020. Fresh from a landmark series triumph over India, Ireland will hope Wilson’s appointment ushers in another successful era ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifying campaign. (AP)
