SHILLONG, June 30: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday said the proposed four-lane road projects from Rilbong to Barik and from Umiam to Shillong are advancing steadily, with the government working to bring both to their logical conclusion.
Sangma said the four-laning plans have been largely finalised after discussions with concerned authorities, including the Army. “We have more or less come to a conclusion. Once the Army reviews the plan and confirms the minutes, we will move ahead,” he added.
The Umiam to Shillong stretch will involve both greenfield and brownfield alignments, which are currently being finalised. The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit New Delhi in July to discuss these projects and other related matters.
