SHILLONG, July 1: The state government is exploring the setting up of fisheries clusters and related infrastructure across Meghalaya to benefit more than 1,000 fish farmers, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said on Wednesday.
Sharing the update on X, Sangma said the initiative will create dedicated units under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) to boost fish production, marketing and value-chain development.
The project will be implemented in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), NABARD and Uday Aqua, which will provide technical support, market linkages and capacity-building programmes to help farmers adopt better practices and raise productivity.
