Shillong, July 3: Meghalaya’s promising young footballer Damenbandon Mawkhroh has been selected for the final trials of the Under-15 AIFF FIFA Talent Academy, bringing him a step closer to securing a place in one of the country’s premier youth development programmes.
The final selection trials will be held in Hyderabad from July 11, where some of the best young footballers from across India will compete for spots in the prestigious residential academy jointly run by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and FIFA.
Damenbandon, who hails from the PFR Football Academy in Shillong, has been part of the academy’s grassroots programme since the age of seven. Over the years, he has progressed through the academy’s age-group system under the guidance of coaches Nylla Meri Wahlang and Jewelson Lyngdoh.
His selection for the final stage reflects his consistent development and performances at the youth level, while also highlighting the growing contribution of Meghalaya’s academies in producing talented footballers capable of competing on the national stage.
Successful in the Hyderabad trials, Damenbandon will earn a place in the AIFF FIFA Talent Academy, regarded as one of India’s elite residential programmes for nurturing the country’s most promising young footballers.Football enthusiasts across Meghalaya will be hoping the youngster makes the final cut and continues his journey towards representing India.
