SEATTLE, July 5: Spain defender Pau Cubarsi has described the prospect of facing Cristiano Ronaldo in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 as an “unforgettable” experience, as Spain prepare to take on Portugal on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old Barcelona centre-back, who missed Spain’s UEFA Nations League meeting with Portugal due to injury, said he was looking forward to finally sharing the pitch with one of football’s greatest players.
“We all know his history and everything he has given to football. Being on the pitch with him would be something unforgettable,” Cubarsi said while speaking to RNE Deportes.
The youngster also revealed that he hopes to swap jerseys with the Portugal captain after the match, although he joked that there would likely be a long queue of players hoping to do the same. (AP)
