Beatles legend Paul McCartney performed the iconic song I Want to Hold Your Hand at the wedding reception of pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce in New York City, according to reports.
The star-studded celebration was held at Madison Square Garden, where McCartney, 84, took the stage during the reception following the ceremony.
A source told People magazine that Swift’s mother, Andrea, invited guests into the reception area where live performances were arranged. Alongside McCartney, singer Stevie Nicks, a longtime mentor and friend of Swift, also performed at the event.
Swift, 36, and McCartney share a history of mutual admiration. The two appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2020, and Swift has publicly praised McCartney as an “eternally exceptional artist,” saying she is “never not inspired” by him.
McCartney has also spoken warmly about Swift, noting parallels in their global fame and saying she likely does not need advice on handling success.
He added that he would still be happy to guide younger artists like Swift, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo if asked, describing them as “very cool people” with strong talent.
The performance added to a memorable evening blending generations of music icons and celebrated figures from both the music and sports worlds. (IANS)
