SHILLONG, July 5: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration in East Khasi Hills is making steady progress, with Booth Level Officers distributing forms door-to-door across all 15 Assembly constituencies.
The process, which began on June 30 covering 898 polling parts, is on track for completion of distribution and collection by July 29, according to the District Election Officer’s office.
As of July 5, 1,67,253 enumeration forms have been distributed district-wide, with 6,707 already digitised. The District SIR Helpline has resolved all 17 calls received so far.
Pynursla leads with 22,004 forms distributed, followed by Mawlai (13,533) and Pynthorumkhrah (12,683). Sohiong (12,521) and Mawryngkneng (11,940) are also among the higher distributors. Digitization is highest in Mawphlang (1,051) and Nongthymmai (882).
Photographs of the house-to-house enumeration have been released along with the press note.
Barring a minor hiccup in Mawprem under the 18-West Shillong constituency, where the KSU Mawprem Circle alleged irregular distribution of forms by a BLO from a former MLA’s residence and public roads instead of proper house-to-house visits, the drive has remained on course. The District Election Officer ordered an immediate inquiry. The BLO was directed to retrieve the affected forms, and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer has been supervising the exercise since July 3 to ensure strict compliance with guidelines.
The administration has appealed to all eligible electors to extend full cooperation to BLOs for timely and accurate completion of the SIR process.
