Ayodhya, July 5: The wife of Tinnu Yadav – one of the eight persons arrested in connection with alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple here – has claimed her husband is innocent and has been falsely implicated in the case to safeguard “prominent people”.
Poonam Yadav told reporters on Saturday that the allegations being levelled against her family are baseless and misleading.
Apparently targeting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Poonam said, “To save the prominent people, smaller people (subordinates) are being implicated. My husband has carried the saffron flag since 1992. He has been associated with the RSS and VHP since then.”
Reacting to the allegations that her husband amassed property and luxury cars worth around Rs 50 crore, she said, “If property worth Rs 50 crore is recovered from our possession, I will immediately donate Rs 45 crores to the Ram temple trust and keep Rs 5 crore with myself.”
Police sources have described Ramshankar Yadav, alias Tinnu Yadav, as one of the principal figures in the alleged conspiracy. (PTI)
