MAWKYRWAT, July 6: A 76-year-old mentally challenged woman from Jakrem village, South West Khasi Hills, has been missing since July 4.
The woman, identified as Joit Kharlyngdoh, was last seen around 3 PM on Saturday. Jakrem Myntri Pascal Wahlang informed that she was wearing mismatched shoes and using a jain kyrshah as a tapmoh (headscarf) at the time of her disappearance.
For the past two days, residents of Jakrem—including men, women, and youth—have conducted a massive search operation across the village and surrounding areas. However, she remains untraceable as of Monday evening. “We have searched all nearby areas because she is elderly and cannot walk far, but we have yet to find her. The search will resume tomorrow morning,” Wahlang said.
