Cops bust Pak-backed terror modules plotting attack in capital

NEW DELHI, July 6: Delhi Police has busted two Pakistan-backed modules linked to gangster Shahzad Bhatti plotting terror attacks in the capital with the arrest of six operatives.The police have also seized petrol bombs, pistols and other incriminating material from the accused’s possession, allegedly stored to carry out attacks in Delhi.One of the modules had been tasked by Pakistan-based handlers to carry out a terror attack in Delhi using petrol bombs, while the second was allegedly engaged in receiving and trafficking weapons smuggled into India from across the border through drones, the police said.The accused were allegedly being handled by Pakistan-based associates of Shahzad Bhatti, on behalf of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the investigators said. Two accused — Danish alias Chand Miya (24), and Salman (20), both residents of Muzaffarnagar in UP. (PTI)

ISRO headquarters receives bomb threat email

BENGALURU, July 6: A bomb threat email was sent to the ISRO headquarters here on Monday, just days after a similar hoax threat, prompting officials to launch an extensive search operation, police said.However, no suspicious objects were found during the search, confirming that the message was a hoax, they said.Police personnel, along with the dog squad and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), rushed to the premises on New BEL Road after the threat was received, they said.According to the police, the threat was sent from an email ID to ISRO’s official email addresses, claiming that a bomb blast would be carried out at the headquarters.All staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure while a thorough search of the building was conducted, a senior police officer said.Police are probing the source of the email.
