SHILLONG, July 7: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is examining a proposal to grant Institute of National Importance (INI) status to NEIGRIHMS.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda, responding to a petition from MLA AL Hek, stated that the matter is currently being reviewed by the concerned division.
The state is advocating for the status upgrade to enhance the institute’s research capabilities, academic standards, and access to central resources.
