Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms likely in state over next 5 days

SHILLONG, July 7: Meghalaya is likely to experience widespread rain over the next five days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting moderate rainfall across most places and warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations.
According to the weather forecast issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, on July 6, moderate rain is very likely at most places across Meghalaya on Wednesday. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely at isolated places, along with heavy rainfall in parts of the state.
Similar conditions are expected on Thursday, with moderate rain forecast at most places and isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The wet spell is expected to continue on Friday, when moderate rain is likely at most places. The IMD has again warned of thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations, while heavy rain may occur in some parts of Meghalaya.
On Friday, moderate rain is forecast at most places, with isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The pattern is likely to persist on Saturday, with moderate rain over most places and the possibility of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms at isolated locations.
The IMD has indicated that no major change in maximum temperatures is expected across the region during the forecast period.
