SHILLONG, July 8: The Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) and Don Bosco Media Network on Wednesday organized a send-off for Kitkupar Nongsiej, winner of Ka Sur Kynud Season-3, as he prepares to represent India at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) 2026 in Las Vegas.
Nongsiej is scheduled to leave Shillong on July 10 for the international competition, which will be held from July 13 to July 21. Representing both India and Meghalaya, he will be accompanied by his father, Aibari Kupar Syiemlieh.
According to the organisers, Nongsiej was originally slated to travel to the United States last year. However, his participation was deferred to 2026 due to global geopolitical circumstances.
The send-off programme at DBYC was presided over by Director Rev. Fr. Michael Makri, while Shillong Salesian Provincial Rev. Fr. John Zosiama attended as the chief guest.
The event was attended by family members, well-wishers, and representatives of the media fraternity.
Ka Sur Kynud has emerged as a prominent singing competition in Meghalaya, providing a platform for local musical talent to reach national and international stages.
