Two Indians arrested for dealing in drugs in Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 11: Nepal police have arrested three drug dealers, including two Indian nationals, in Rupandehi district.Iqbal Khan, 50, a resident of Amethi Musafirkhana, UP and Ram Dayal Sharma, 34, a resident of Siddharthanagar Thana, Chatara and Sarajuddin Musalman, 24, a resident of Rupandehi district in Nepal were arrested on Friday during an operation, according to a statement by Nepal Police.The Anti-Narcotic Bureau of Nepal Police carried out an operation based on a tip off, it said. Police said that one of the Indian nationals opened fire during the operation.Iqbal Khan sustained a bullet injury below the knee of his left leg during the cross-firing.The police recovered 300 grams of heroin, a pistol and two rounds of bullets, a motorbike and two sets of mobile phones during the operation. Four of family killed as car crashes into stationary truck

JUNAGADH (Gujarat), July 11: Four members of a family were killed and four others sustained injuries after their car crashed into a stationary truck in Gujarat’s Junagadh district in the early hours of Saturday.The accident occurred when the family was on its way to Somnath to immerse the ashes of a relative, police said.The car rammed into a truck parked on the roadside, killing four occupants on the spot.Four others sustained injuries, of whom two are in critical condition. They were shifted to Junagadh civil hospital for treatment.(PTI)

11-year-old boy mauled to death by lion in Gujarat

JUNAGADH (Gujarat), July 11: An 11-year-old boy was mauled to death by a lion while climbing the Girnar Hill with his family in Gujarat’s Junagadh district in the early hours of Saturday.A lion was captured after the attack, while a search is underway for two other big cats spotted in the area, they said.Girnar is a pilgrimage site with several shrines located on top of the hill.The boy, Mayur Chauhan, was climbing the hill with his family when a lion attacked and dragged him away near the stairway between 5 am and 6 am. His remains were later recovered and handed over to the family.According to eyewitnesses, three lions were seen near the stairway. (PTI)

Bangladeshi on medical visa held for smuggling stolen phones

KOLKATA, July 11: A Bangladeshi national has been arrested for allegedly running a cross-border syndicate that smuggled stolen mobile phones and laptops from Kolkata to Bangladesh after entering India on a medical visa, the Kolkata Police said on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Syed Mohammad Salauddin, alias Dollar, a resident of Mamudpur in Dhaka.In Bangladesh, he posed as an import-export businessman. The police said his passport and medical visa were genuine and no irregularities were found in his travel documents.He repeatedly entered India using a fake medical prescription issued by a Bangladeshi doctor despite not suffering from any heart or kidney ailment.(IANS)
